With the Lunar Festival just coming to a close, already another holiday has come along full of festivities (and achievements) to keep us busy! 2009's Love is in the Air event, an in-game Valentine's Day of sorts, runs from February 11 - February 16, a mere six days (less, technically) to take in all there is and finish as many of the new achievements as possible! Spread the love to the citizens of your faction and score some candy, fireworks, a new dress or suit, or even a non-combat pet! Be a pro achiever and come out with a new player title - the Love Fool!

Horde Quests
Dearest Elenia, (Orgrimmar | Undercity | Thunder Bluff)
Start: Orok Deathbane or Deathguard Tor or Temma of the Wells
End: Elenia Haydon
This quest can be started at any of the three major faction cities listed above. It does not matter which place you start it at, but you will only be able to complete one of the three quests per character. There is essentially no difference in the quests. Just accept one of the quests from a love-struck NPC found in one of the cities and deliver the letter declaring his love to the (apparently extremely attractive) Elenia Haydon located near the bank in Undercity. This quest technically leads to another quest, but is not a prerequisite and cannot be completed if the next quest has already been accepted.
Dangerous Love
Start: Fenstad Argyle
End: Fenstad Argyle
Fenstad Argyle [66.2, 46.1] can be found near the bank in the center of Undercity. For this quest, you must first purchase a Perfume Bottle or Cologne Bottle and a stack of Love Token from a nearby innkeeper. Apply the fragrance, then speak with a nearby Undercity Guardian that is "looking for love" (that is, has a heart over his (it's?) head). Offer a Love Token and you will be rewarded. The reward item may contain the Guardian's Moldy Card you need, if not you must try another Guardian. If you get Heartbroken while trying to obtain the card you will need another player to remove the debuff with a Unbestowed Friendship Bracelet. Once you have obtained a Guardian's Moldy Card, return to Fenstad.
Fenstad's Hunch
Start: Fenstad Argyle
End: Apothecary Zinge
For this quest, simply purchase a Cologne Bottle and a Perfume Bottle from an innkeeper and bring them to Apothecary Zinge [49.9, 68.4] located in the Apothecarium of the Undercity.
Zinge's Assessment
Start: Apothecary Zinge
End: Fenstad Argyle
More running around the Undercity! Simply go back to Fenstad Argyle outside of the Undercity bank, presumably to report some sort of findings about the mystic effect of the fragrances. You will receive one each of the following: Box of Chocolates, Handful of Rose Petals, and Love Rocket.
Tracing the Source
Start: Fenstad Argyle
End: Innkeeper Norman
Hike the twelve feet from Fenstad Argyle over to Innkeeper Norman [66.0, 38.3] to discuss the source of the fragrances!
Tracing the Source
Start: Innkeeper Norman
End: Mara Rennick
This time you're trekking from Innkeeper Norman over to Mara Rennick [70.3, 29.5] found in the Mage Quarter of Undercity.
The Source Revealed
Start: Mara Rennick
End: Apothecary Staffron Lerent
Now for a bit of real travel! Mara Rennick wants you to find Apothecary Staffron Lerent [89.2, 74.8] out in the Hillsbrad Foothills, just past Ravenholdt Manor. Non-rogues may not be familiar with the area; the 'entrance' to the path up into the mountains can be found at around [72.7, 23.8], just southeast from Tarren Mill. There you will see a path that zig-zags up the hill, and thru a cave eventually leading to Ravenholdt Manor. Once you have reached the manor, head right, past the farm and what appears to be a small sparring ring up a the hill - this is where it gets a little weird. Follow the short path into Alterac Mountains until you reach a small cliff, drop down carefully and head left following the green path on the minimap until you end up at the cauldron.
A Bubbling Cauldron
Start & End: Fragrant Cauldron
Once you've made it up here and discovered the 'source' of these mysterious sweet-smelling fragrances, you are able to interact with the cauldron found nearby Apothecary Staffron Lerent and you will be awarded with your choice of one of the following festive outfits: Blue Dinner Suit or Purple Dinner Suit or Red Dinner Suit or Lovely Blue Dress or Lovely Purple Dress or Lovely Red Dress. Note that this quest will not be repeatable until next year's holiday, so choose wisely!
Alliance Quests
Dearest Colara, (Ironforge | Stormwind City | Darnassus)
Start: Tormek Stoneriver or Lieutenant Jocryn Heldric or Aldris Fourclouds
End: Colara Dean
This quest can be started at any of the three major faction cities listed above. It does not matter which place you start it at, but you will only be able to complete one of the three quests per character. There is essentially no difference in the quests. Aristan Mottar can be found near the fountain outside of the bank in Stormwind City. For this quest, you must first purchase a Perfume Bottle or Cologne Bottle and a stack of Love Token from a nearby innkeeper. The Source Revealed
Start: Evert Sorisam
End: Apothecary Staffron Lerent

There you will see a path that zig-zags up the hill, and thru a cave eventually leading to Ravenholdt Manor. Note that this quest will not be repeatable until next year's holiday, so choose wisely!
Spread The Love!
Love is certainly in the air, as NPCs throughout the major cities are "looking for love" - that is, they will have hearts above their heads to signify that they can be shown affection. To do so, simply speak to an Innkeeper NPC and purchase a stack of Love Token, and your choice of either Perfume Bottle or Cologne Bottle. Upon using your choice of fragrance, you will gain a buff (You smell great!) that lasts for an hour and allows you to see hearts above lovestruck NPCs throughout the major cities. You can share the love with any NPC with a heart by giving them a Love Token. Note that if you used Cologne you will only be able to interact with female NPCs, and if you used Perfume you will only be able to interact with male NPCs - your character's gender is irrelevant. Upon giving an NPC a Love Token, you will become either Adored or Heartbroken - love is not always kind!
If your character currently has no debuff, you will receive a Pledge of Adoration or a Gift of Adoration. Pledges of Adoration are received from guard NPCs, and Gifts of Adoration are received from any non-guard NPC that can be shown love. You will also gain the 'Adored' debuff which will last for one hour, during which you cannot obtain Pledges of Adoration or Gifts of Adoration. The 'Adored' debuff cannot be removed in any way other than progression of its duration.
If your character is already Adored (that is, you already had the 'Adored' debuff), you will instead receive a Pledge of Friendship or a Gift of Friendship. Pledges of Friendship are received from guard NPCs, and Gifts of Friendship are received from any non-guard NPC that can be shown love. This will not not affect the duration of 'Adored' in any way. You will be able to obtain Gifts of Friendship and Pledge of Friendship for the duration of the debuff, but you will only be able to receive a Pledge of Adoration or Gift of Adoration once every 60 minutes. The difference is in the contents of the pledges/gifts (which are detailed in the next section).
Sometimes, if the NPC you gave a Love Token to is a big meaniehead, he can choose to decline your profession of love and you will receive no pledge/gift and instead will become afflicted with the 'Heartbroken' debuff. This debuff will prevent you from giving Love Token to NPCs for 60 minutes or until removed. The debuff can be removed by another player by using an Unbestowed Friendship Bracelet on a Heartbroken character. These bracelets can be obtained randomly from Pledges of Adoration or Gifts of Adoration, which typically contain 2-4 bracelets. The 'cured' player will receive a Friendship Bracelet, which is just a common quality item with a somewhat misleading description since there's a very high chance most of them will come from total strangers, but whatever.
Pledges and Gifts of Adoration
Pledges and Gifts of Adoration can only be obtained once every 60 minutes, as your character will receive the 'Adored' debuff upon receiving one. Pledges of Adoration are obtained from guard NPCs and Gifts of Adoration are obtained from non-guard NPCs. Pledges and Gifts of Adoration contain an assortment of items unique to the event.
Pledges of Adoration can contain the following unique items:
City Guard Cards - Depending on which city's guard you chose to give a Love Token to, you have a chance to receive a card from that specific guard. Horde cards include Grunt's Card, Guardian's Moldy Card and Bluffwatcher's Card, and Alliance cards include Ironforge Guard's Card, Stormwind Guard's Card, and Sentinel's Card. Five of any one type of Horde card can be combined to form either Package of Cards (Orgrimmar), Sheaf of Cards (Undercity) or Satchel of Cards (Thunder Bluff). Five of any one type of Alliance card can be combined to form either Parcel of Cards (Ironforge), Bundle of Cards (Stormwind City) or Stack of Cards (Darnassus).
Pledges of Loyalty - Depending on which city's guard you chose to give a Love Token to, you have a chance to receive a Pledge of Loyalty to that city. Combine five of any one city's pledges to form a Pledge Collection. Horde Pledge Collections include Orgrimmar Pledge Collection, Undercity Pledge Collection and Thunder Bluff Pledge Collection. Alliance Pledge Collections include Ironforge Pledge Collection, Stormwind Pledge Collection and Darnassus Pledge Collection.
Gifts of Adoration can contain the following unique items:
Gift Items - Non-guard NPC gifts will contain a different trade gift depending on which city you are in. Five of these goods can be combined to form a different gift in every city. These gifts are then combined with a Pledge Collection and assortment of Cards to create a city Gift Collection. Horde gifts include Box of Fresh Pies (Orgrimmar), Book of Romantic Poems (Undercity) and Basket of Flowers (Thunder Bluff). Alliance gifts include Case of Homebrew (Ironforge), Sack of Homemade Bread (Stormwind City) and Box of Woodcrafts (Darnassus).
Both Gifts and Pledges of Adoration can contain the following items:
Unbestowed Friendship Bracelet - These can be used on player characters to remove the 'Heartbroken' debuff. The item is consumed in the process and the recipient will receive a Friendship Bracelet.
Handful of Rose Petals - This item can be used to shower another player with rose petals (works on bosses)!
Box of Chocolates - This box contains an assortment of chocolates that can be consumed for unique buffs! Each box can contain a few chocolates, including Dark Desire, Buttermilk Delight, Very Berry Cream, Sweet Surprise or just an Empty Wrapper! The Empty Wrapper can be used like a wrapping paper, though I'm not sure what kind of gift you'd send in a discarded chocolate wrapper.
Love Fool - These unlucky little guys work like the target dummies created by engineers. The Love Fool will taunt enemy mobs and probably die shortly afterwards.
Silver Shafted Arrow - This item can be used to shoot a player to make Kwee Q. Peddlefeet follow him around as a non-combat pet. Currently, if you cancel casting the 'shooting' spell the targeted player will still gain Peddlefeet and it will still count towards the Shafted! achievement, but it will not actually consume the item.
Bag of Candies - This item can be used once per minute to create a heart candy with a loving message 'made by' your character. Not only do they make great gifts, but creating each of the different candies is a requirement for the achievement Be Mine!
Romantic Picnic Basket - This permanent item can be used to place down a rug, picnic basket, and umbrella. Players can sit around and 'use' the basket to gain the 'Romantic Picnic' buff which is purely cosmetic and places a heart above the player's head whenever someone joins you for a romantic meal.
Lovely Black Dress - This rather rare dress will not only grant you an achievement, but also increases the sexiness of your character by +500. Even on a female dwarf.
Love Rocket - This unique firework creates an impressive show in the sky complete with hearts!
Truesilver Shafted Arrow - This item teaches you to summon the non-combat pet Kwee Q. Peddlefeet! This rare little winged goblin can be yours as a permanent cute pet! Note that the Perma-Peddle achievement gained by obtaining him has been removed as a requirement for the Fool for Love meta achievement.
Pledges and Gifts of Friendship
Pledges and Gifts of Friendship can be obtained at any time if your character has already received a Pledge or Gift of Adoration and has the 'Adored' debuff. You can receive as many of these as you want, the only thing that will stop you is the occasional Heartbroken debuff but even that is removable. Pledges of Friendship are obtained from guard NPCs and Gifts of Friendship are obtained from non-guard NPCs. Pledges and Gifts of Friendship contain an assortment of items unique to the event.
Pledges of Friendship will only contain one of either of these two items:
Gifts of Friendship will only contain the 'gift item' used in the creation of Gift Collections. Non-guard NPC gifts will contain a different trade gift depending on which city you are in.
City Gift Collections
The whole point behind collecting all of these pledges, cards and gifts is to create a Gift Collection for a particular city. Obtain five of each city's pledges, cards and gift item to create collections of each. Then combine all three of these items to create a Gift Collection for that city.
Horde Gift Collection - Created by combining:
Orgrimmar Gift Collection
Undercity Gift Collection
Thunder Bluff Gift Collection
Alliance Gift Collection - Created by combining:
Ironforge Gift Collection
Stormwind Gift Collection
Darnassus Gift Collection
Upon creation of an individual city Gift Collection, you will receive a one hour buff which is different for each city. Orgrimmar/Darnassus Gift Collection creation will grant a +30 Agility buff, Undercity/Stormwind will grant a +30 Intellect buff, and Thunder Bluff/Ironforge will grant a +30 Stamina buff.
Once you have created a full Gift Collection for your faction, you can bring it to Kwee Q. Peddlefeet located near any of the three major city's faction leader. He offers the repeatable quest Gift Giving (Alliance) in which you can exchange a Horde Gift Collection or Alliance Gift Collection for your choice of one of the following: 5 Handful of Rose Petals or 5 Silver Shafted Arrow or 5 Love Rocket. You will also receive a Box of Chocolates.
Depending which city you turned in the Gift Collection, the turn in will count as one 'point' in what is basically a popularity contest among the major city leaders. Whichever city's faction leader 'wins' will be accompanied by a Peddlefeet that will buff players. There is no other perk at all to turning in the Gift Collections - no reputation gain whatsoever and no reward other than items you can obtain simply through receiving Adoration pledges/gifts. There isn't even an achievement for creation or turn-in of any type of Gift Collection. Kind of a bum deal, but if getting into the spirit of holiday events are your thing - enjoy!

This achievement can be found in the main World Events achievement category and is awarded upon completion of every one of the Love is in the Air achievements. Alliance players must get completely smashed, put on a Perfume Bottle, throw a Handful of Rose Petals on Sraaz and then /kiss him. Obviously the best way to get completely smashed would be through massive consumption of Strong Alcohol, but enough of any alcoholic beverage will do the trick. Simply drink to your heart's content until you receive the message that your character is smashed, and you're set! You can get the Handful of Rose Petals randomly in Gifts of Adoration or Pledges of Adoration. You can also obtain the Handful of Rose Petals by turning in Horde Gift Collection or Alliance Gift Collection to Kwee Q. Peddlefeet near any major faction leader.

Nation of Adoration or Nation of Adoration
For this achievement, Horde must obtain Gift of Adoration: Orgrimmar, Gift of Adoration: Undercity and Gift of Adoration: Thunder Bluff from the civilians in each city. Alliance must obtain Gift of Adoration: Stormwind, Gift of Adoration: Ironforge and Gift of Adoration: Darnassus from the civilians in each city. Just to be clear, you have to talk to the civilians, and not the guards for this achievement.
Nearest and Dearest
For this achievement, you must complete the 'Dangerous Love' questline, starting with Dangerous Love for Horde, and Dangerous Love for Alliance.
Perma-Peddle
For this achievement, you only need to loot Truesilver Shafted Arrow from a Gift of Adoration or Pledge of Adoration. This achievement is not part of the Love is in the Air meta-achievement, as the Truesilver Shafted Arrow is quite rare.

Thank you Noxy for drawing a line for me successfully and Corgan for achievement write-ups (but not for the typos)!
